Hello, hello - anybody home?

What do you do with a "beautiful" ruin in the villa district of Reichenau that you fall in love with and spontaneously acquire? The year is 2012 – when it all began.

A charming ruin with four apartments, none of them bathrooms, but with the prospect of an incredible amount of work. After various ideas were conceived and then discarded, the final plan emerged: something that didn't yet exist in Reichenau at that time: stylish, cozy self-catering apartments, individually and lovingly furnished, a combination of the 19th and 21st centuries. Charm and comfort, form and function. The Landhaus Blauer Spatz Reichenau an der Rax was born – and it was a resounding success! Today, we're no longer the only ones, which makes us all the happier!

A few years later came Payerbach Apartments , a different concept: affordable, practical apartments for larger families. A small house with "only" two apartments, also with a garden, and also with great attention to detail.

A little later: the small but proud ornithological sister of the Blue Sparrow: the Dodo country house in Payerbach . The building is less ostentatious than the Sparrow, but incredibly cozy. A very large garden, which naturally also includes a sauna. Five wonderfully individual apartments with a very similar concept to the Blue Sparrow – it's not for nothing that it's called "two birds of a feather flock together".

Next step: the capital, of course ;) a younger concept with 5 practical, uncomplicated & affordable studio apartments in a prime location at Brunnenmarkt - the Farmer's Market Apartments Vienna were born.

In between, a short detour to Gloggnitz , where the modern loft on the main square can accommodate up to 6 guests.

And finally, in 2020, with perfect timing for the start of the pandemic: the Old Town Apartments in Melk in the Wachau region. A similar situation to 2012, only this time in Melk: a beautiful house on the edge of the old town, vacant and once again requiring a lot of work – and potential. Four inviting apartments, a wonderful, enchanting garden right in the heart of the old town, and of course: a sauna (a rare find in Melk ;)).

Need a car? Everything is within walking distance!

The picture above shows Reichenau an der Rax during the Imperial era, with the Blue Sparrow in the lower left corner :)

On the right, the wonderful view from the mountain station of the Stuhleck , a great family ski area, only 30 minutes from Gloggnitz or Payerbach and Reichenau.

And at the very bottom for trainspotters and nostalgics: the historic Höllentalbahn railway in Reichenau an der Rax.

Nature, the Arts, Sports or Relaxation

Carpe diem. All year round.

Whether it's the phenomenal apricot blossom in the Wachau, the top-class theater festival in Reichenau, an urban weekend in Vienna, a refreshing bike tour along the Danube, a hike across the Rax plateau following in the footsteps of Sigmund Freud, or a fantastic ski weekend with family and friends at Stuhleck, Semmering or one of the other ski resorts - there's always something to do, 365 days a year.

And even if it's simply doing nothing - in one of our wonderful gardens, ideally after a wonderful sauna session.

And: we've compiled our best tips for you. Handpicked. We promise :)
